The biggest fallacy in this case is explained here clearly. Scott was told by Megan that Coffin was shot and not the other way around. It is ridiculous to claim otherwise and when Detective Chambers or anyone else claims this they know it’s false. Megan’s story changed about this three times. We are still unsure whether the fact that Megan took a Valium honestly confused her or something else.
However the first night of these events, Megan told police that she did not know how David had died. Several days later Megan told Fulton County assistant district attorney Joe Burford that she did in fact give Scott this information. It was only a year later when a reward came out that Megan changed her story again stating that it was Scott who gave her this information about David being shot while they spoke on the phone. However the story rings completely false because Scott had two police officers standing next to him while the phone call occurred and none noted any mention of someone being shot in the head. The claim is false regardless because Megan had already spoken to Jennifer Jenacova 10 minutes before Megan called Scott as proven by the phone records and the note that Jennifer took that evening.
So her statements are blatantly false and police and prosecutors knowingly allowed her to commit perjury or at least give false statements on the stand. This fallacy has continued to be repeated by TV shows and comments by people like detective Chambers when in fact they know it’s false. Detective Chambers was told by several friends of David Coffin’s that Megan had given Scott this information but he ignored it and buried it. Detective Chambers continues to testify falsely on TV shows and in court throughout the history of this case. It’s time to fix this fallacy at the Fulton County Conviction Integrity Unit and give Scott got his freedom.
