New evidence suggests that it was someone close to Megan (but not Scott) that was responsible for the crimes against David Coffin. This person was a man named John Teasley, Megan’s boss at the company she worked for back in 1996.
What evidence suggests this? First of all, Teasley had a well established desire and likely obsession with Megan. Prior to Coffin’s death, Teasley sexually assaulted Megan after a work event. This is well established by Megan’s own words at the time and Teasley’s behavior as evidenced by multiple witnesses.
Second, desperate answering machine messages left by Teasley on Megan’s answering machine show a man who caused fear in Megan’s friend, obsessive and intimidating behavior and Teasley’s worry over his “relationship with Megan” despite her being married. Many similar messages from Teasley exist.
Teasley’s behavior evidenced he was an alcoholic and possible drug user. He on many occasions went out of his way to try and ruin the relationship between Scott and Megan by spreading false rumors.
The theory is that when Teasley saw that Megan’s marriage with Scott was in the rocks, he tried to finish the job on the marriage and on his competition whether planned or not. Teasley had all the needed information on both Scott and David Coffin to make all of this happen, and clearly had the capability to commit a serious crime concerning Megan since he had already committed sexual assault. Scott had never done anything like a serious crime or made threats.
Blockbuster proof of this theory is still under investigation but would further show Scott is innocent.
Our belief is that it was Teasley that in fact likely gave Megan the information that Coffin had been “shot in the head” that first night, and Megan told that information to her friend Jen first and then to Scott. Megan has ever since been confused and wrong due to a Valium she took that night, or she had some other reason to lie. We hope she will admit the truth here because her mistake or lie has wrongfully put Scott in prison. She could correct that now by volunteering to help Scott after 18 years.
Some might claim this is just an attempt to Free Scott but if was that true, the claim would have been made 18 years ago. No one would wait 18 years in prison to make such a strong claim.
