To Whom this May Concern,
I, ***** *******, am writing this reference for Scott Davis. I have known Scott going back at least to 1988, maybe longer. My relationship with Scott goes from our meeting through a group of mutual friends, to Scott taking care of my younger brother Ro**, who has since passed away, while he was at the University of Georgia. I had already graduated, but my younger brother still had three years of school remaining. Scott worked tirelessly to help fill the void of not having his older brother at school to show him the daily grind of college life. I was and always will be very thankful for Scott’s knowledge and guidance to assist R** in many ways.
When old friends meet and start talking about where everyone is and what they are doing, I remember when Scott and I first crossed paths. He was someone I respected because of his drive to succeed. We were just College Students when we first met. He was a few years older but he was doing something I wanted to be doing. He surprised me beyond belief. He made a Division 1 College Football Team at the University of North Carolina, a well-esteemed University. I believed I was talented enough to play but he outworked me. And, he was at UNC, a school I submitted my application but was not accepted. Scott is driven, disciplined, and talented. There was never animosity, just admiration. His success was motivating.
Scott and I stayed in close contact for many years. We shared a large group of friends that were interwoven in many relationships. Scott was recognized as a leader amongst our friends. He continued to advance his skills through higher education and took on the role of keeping the various groups of our friendships together. Everyone recognized Scott’s talents and knew he would be a great success. He was an overachiever in every way but he always had time to help others. That is where our friendship cemented.
Scott helped me in a way that I could never repay him. He vouched for me and my soon-to-be bride and put his reputation on the line for the success of my wedding. The Davis Family was instrumental in that special day. They are a kind, caring and compassionate family. They are more supportive than I can write. Dr. Davis has called periodically with no agenda but to check in and say Hello. Bret is another class act, a great brother and a caring person. We’ve spoken throughout the years to discuss the hardship everyone has endured. If it were not for their involvement in the community and the long-term relationships they have built, A horrific time, if possible, would be worse. There is a group of countless people who are here to help Scott. There is a network of quality people, all willing to assist Scott with every obstacle he may face. Driven, motivated, and disciplined to see Scott succeed.
I’ve communicated with Scott regularly, although I do not know how you define that with a great friend in prison. Scott was talented before this tragedy. Scott tells me about the efforts he makes to be a model inmate. I hate hearing him say that word. I believe he is an advocate for educating the others around him. He has matured, but we all have in the past 20 years. But with Scott, it’s different. He was a role model before and I do not doubt he is a model inmate. As I mentioned previously, Scott is an overachiever. He is an asset that can bring valuable lessons and share the tribulations of life while giving strength to those faced with challenging times. Scott can be a mentor to many as I am sure he has been during his incarceration. He believes in Self-Improvement and continuous learning. I am sure he has given the population everything he has been able to.
I am confident if Scott is granted early release, he will be a leading law-abiding, productive asset to society. He has so much to give and he’s willing to do everything necessary to add value. There is a robust family, friends, and community of support that will successfully reintegrate Scott back into society.
Thank you for considering my letter in support of Scott. If you have any questions or need further information you require, contact me at 404 ***-****.
Sincerely,
M***** ******

RE: Scott Davis
To Whom It May Concern:
I write this letter today in full support for a modification for the release of Scott Davis from federal prison. I have known Scott for 25+ years dating back to our days living in Palo Alto, CA in the late 90’s and having several mutual friends in common to which we all became friends through the process of work, life, family and love. Scott and I also worked together for a few years at Cisco Systems in San Jose where I was able to be a firsthand witness to Scott’s professionalism and impressive business savvy with many colleagues, customers and channel business partners. I worked as a Global Services Sales Account Manager while Scott worked as a high-level business consultant focused on optimizing Cisco’s Services Department’s employee productivity to drive accelerated growth in the highly competitive networking marketplace. From first-hand experience, Scott impressed all the people that he interfaced with by his intellect, business knowledge and ability to effectively communicate and relate to people and drive a project to successful completion.
I have kept in contact with Scott through the years by way of handwritten letters and following his case and I have always been impressed by his steadfast resolve and commitment to speaking to his innocence all while living an honorable and noble life while incarcerated. As I have learned about Scott’s activities in prison, I have been impressed by his leadership qualities as well as his ability to educate and help other inmates to be better individuals and humans. Rather than focus on the negativity that I am sure is pervasive in prison, Scott continues to be a lightning rod of positivity and a model prisoner that makes the people around him better human beings and individuals.
Based on my firsthand knowledge of Scott’s character, his behavior while incarcerated, his family and friends that undoubtedly adore him, I strongly believe that Scott has earned the right to once again be a productive member of the free community. I have 100% confidence that Scott will be a productive member to whichever community to which he returns to and can truly make the world a better place.
I respectfully ask that you grant Scott’s request for sentence modification. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
David ******
