The amount of support for Scott and his efforts to be released from prison has been overwhelming. Letters and emails from old friends, business associates and family members show how much positive support Scott has for his immediate release. We’re going to be posting some of these letters with their permission as we move forward in our efforts to get Scott released. If you know Scott and would like to write a letter, please contact us at the Contact section of this website!

To whom it may concern,
While I am aware there is no way to completely know anyone simply by having gone to school with them, I do believe there are certain characteristics that transcend time and necessarily present themselves at an early age. Meanness, cruelty, violence – I don’t believe these can be hidden over years only to emerge from nowhere in a particular moment. This is particularly true in sports and specifically contact ones where a great deal of bullying frequently occurs.
I don’t remember a single incident where Scott ever lost his temper on or off the football field, in a classroom, or away from school. As a matter of fact, his success on the field was somewhat surprising given his gentle nature. For those of us who know Scott, these charges seemed incomprehensible. While I wasn’t in the court or privy to the all the evidence presented, I know with certainty there is simply no way keeping Scott out of society at this point makes sense. Today Scott presents danger to no one and has the ability to do great good.
Out of necessity our system judges all years to be of equal value. But I would also argue that being incarcerated barely at 30 years old only to leave in your 60s is to unalterably lose the most cherished time of our lives – these are the years that simply cannot be replaced. Entering as a young man and leaving as an old one is among the greatest price humans can pay.
Value is judged from experience. Scott’s record in almost two decades of incarceration is not something that can be feigned. I can say with all my heart there is no chance that there is anyone that will be a better and more productive member of any community, just as he has been in the one he’s currently residing. With every tragedy comes opportunity and I know that Scott will use his to the advantage of all those around him.
It is therefore my humble request that the courts grant Scott the chance to rejoin society. He has succeeded in the only avenue available him, demonstrating his ability to find purpose and work within the structure and resources he has been provided so as to be a productive member of his current community.
I therefore I make this appeal with both full awareness of its magnitude and knowledge of our systems obligations to the community, victims, and offenders. If I’m can be a further service, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Steven M ****”
