I’m puzzled by the request for phone records. The phone records themselves won’t contain any information about what was actually said in a phone conversation; they only contain information about phone numbers, dates and times (and for local calls, I’m not sure any records would be kept at all–only for toll calls). So if you’re trying to track down the parties that Megan allegedly called, to see if they recall what she said, aren’t there better ways to locate these people if they don’t still live there? (I’m assuming that they did not already give testimony about these alleged conversations to police or to the court in the original trial.)
But even if you could find these people and they confirmed your story, I believe that what Megan allegedly said to them about what Scott said to her would be considered hearsay, and therefore not admissable.
Also, it seems to me that the other problem here is that it makes no sense for Megan to have said that the police had said that David had been shot in the head; because at that point in time, even the police did not know that David had been shot in the head. In fact, at that point in time, I’m not sure anyone even suspected arson. They might initially have figured it might be an accidental fire.
So it seems to me that only someone with guilty knowledge of the crime would impulsively and accidentally blurt out that they hadn’t shot Scott. I think Scott slipped up and gave himself away. And I guess that’s what the jury felt as well.

my husband is a convicted murderer. The difference is mine manned up and admitted what he did.
I have no respect for a liar.
There is forgiveness….but I can’t forgive someone who won’t admit what he did.

Looks like to me from all of the evidence that Mr Davis is an INNOCENT MAN. I wonder those of posting on this website nasty things who paid or hired you to post this…….I beleive the justice system for the the state of Georgia is very corrupt….

Although I believe Scott Davis committed this crime, the two attacks on him seem ludicrous. If someone takes the time to attack you twice, I would think that one of the two times they would have been successful in doing damage to Scott. And to think he was attacked twice on the same night by two different attackers dont add up. If he were really innocent he would be spending more time providing an alibi, he wouldnt have ran off to California when released right after the crime. With his resources and smarts he would of dug in and cleared his name. He also rufused a lie detector and did not take the stand. All that being said, that is my opinion. HE WAS RAILROADED AND CONVICTED OF FIRST DEGREE MURDER WITH LITTLE TO NO EVIDENCE. Even though I think he is guilty there is just to much reasonable doubt. The prosecutors really blew this one, but they had the power to cover it up.

After looking at 48hrs on TLC, I cannot believe that Scott was convicted. I am from Florida and have no ties with this family but it seems totally unfair that he was convicted.
if you look at the prison system, there is tens of thousands of worngfully convicted people.
The Coffin family is ultra rich and this is a case where money and power is certainly doing the talking..
I trust that justice will prevail and if Scott is innocent, he is declared an innocent man.
I wish i can do something to help.

SCOTT SHOULD BE A FREE MAN. There is no conclusive evidence that he killed Mr Coffin. What is the world comming to. A person is innocent till proven guilt. Circumstantal evidence just is not enough. Especially not 10+ years down the track, missing keys items,no handgun ,no dna evidence or samples.all the illegal and immoral methods of obtaining infomartion.Seems to me “they” can turn a innoncent man guilt and a guilt man innocent.
He was free to go to wherever he wanted after sitting in 90 daysin jail back in 1996 while there was no case made aganist him. Why would someone want to sit around and try to clear there name when there is no charge aganist that person. He had the right to go to tibet if he wished. California had the right employment for his skills. He probably lived a great life there.
Why was he hounded down 10 years later.?Coincendtly someone was very unhappy and angry There was plenty of money to be thrown around for some sort of closure. Someone stubborn and unrelenting had made up there mind and wanted to fulfill there thirst for revenge. Revenge even if it was not the right man. 10 years of loss and greiving for some one who got what they wanted ,when they wanted where they wanted can certainly play games on there mind. It can make someone do irrrational, unwise and costly mistakes. Cost did not matter so in there mind fantasty was possibly turned to reality. Someone was thirsty for blood. And now they have satsifed there thirst, or have they. What if the real killer is still on the loose? What if someone come forward and proves 100 percent that Scott is not the Killer.Anyone ever heard that anger can make you blind. Also justice is best served blind or impartial.
Put yourself in his shoes. Did you/he get a fair trial. If ther is any doubt whatsoever then he has been done wrong and what is wrong cannot be made right,no matter how small a wrong, it is unfortunately still a wrong.
Ask yourself ,from 1996 to 2005 how many homicdies took place in Atlanta or even take a smaller area, say the place where Mr Coffin lived. Then think of the numbers of Homicides in georgia. Then of all those homicide, how many have been solved and how many not. Then ask yourself, on such skelton budget and such a weak case , and 10 years or so later and when in the first instance no charges were laid, they had two police officer and a goverment court employee flown to California, for whatever weeks or day. Seems they had a massive party ,went to the erotic exotic ball, sniffed all sorts of stuff, drank lots, hung out at the defendants company and drink holes, made friends with him etc, all the time pulling out there ID badges to the whole world, while everyone knew who they were and what they were ther for , and then wire tap his house……someone with half a brain would figure that out.
Wonder who funded the task force trip to california. Let me guess the police department, proably not unless it was orders from higher up , or a private investor. Georgia has great number of homicdes every year, read the papers…and they sent valuable dept employees on a wild goose chase 10 + yrs later on a case that has no evidence ,no basis makes me wonder. It was in a cardboard box gathering dust ,with all sorts of missing key document and articles.
A conspiaracy plot i reckon.
Money makes the mare go and mind you everyone has a price. Consider yourself, each one of us reading this blog has a price. What is a small white lie for some guy” who is guilty anyway”. “He deserves it so no skin of my back”. Or “we all know he did it”. “Who else but him because his wife was F.@#$%%^ Coffin. So Obivious. OR IS IT>
10 years is a long time to hatch a plot, and provide a big bang at the end for an unsupecting person who has long forgotten the dark days of ones past. A perfect little set up, ambush or hardly so. Everyone was aware that there were people from the south with there southern accents drinking lots of cocktails in bars in Palo Alto from georgia. Funny later the same met the defedant in Atlanta doing more of the same. Was she(public servant) engaged to be married, well she must have been on her hens night the whole time there. Any way its not about the dodgy goverment servants/employees but rather about the premise of the roles in this whole enactment and well planned trap.
Freak things do happen in life people. Getting attacked 2 times in the night is not unheard. How many times have we heard, a fight occurs and the guys leave to come back later with there “big guns”,friends, thugs whatver to finsh the job. All this and add emotions, alcohal, etc etc into the picture one would be lucky it wasnt a full blown riot.he kicker is there was a lot of dark illegal activity proably happening behind the scences. Mans seven corrupts and destroys good people over and over again. Add to the fire fuel in the form of illicit drugs, alcohol, sex, envy, power, percussaion, love, anger etc you are bound to get an infero with the right conditons.
lets not judge people and we have no right to do the same. The courtroom is where the law prevails, but when the law of the land fails its citzens and differs for person to person based on there social status ,or socio-ennomic status, etc etc then we have a MAJOR problem.Where did this farce start ,who started it and how long was there reach. Did it start all the way from the top of the chain of command and the way into the high echolons of the courthouse.Supported by persons who knew the system well and had enough contacts in both places to combine resources, and ideas. Maybe even had enough knowledge and access to information about the defedant etc.Had a connection with the coffin family to tap into there anger and put the dots together. The ingredients to bake the cake were there, all it needed was a cook. There was money, sex, power, murder, motive, criminal etc etc…all one had to do was turn on the oven.make sense.
This story is indeed very sorrowful for both the families, one that lost there son to violence and another that lost there son to prejudice. It is the worst feeling when a child dies before the parent. This would be the ultimate sadness. Your very own that was born out of your womb, the one that you provided maternal/faternal/paternal care.Watched them grow up and to be taken away so quickly and violently. Not now when the only thing that mattered was your SON,
The rest of us for a moment put your emotions aside and look at the facts. People are killed daily in horrific incidents. Justice needs to be served, but it needs to be served justly. Punishment should be delivered swiftly, efficently and sternly BUT only and when it is PROVEN BEYOND DOUBT, else we are commiting the same crime over again but this time a hundred times worse.
My sincere aplogies to anyone who feels insult and my best wishes and regards to both the greaving families.I am truely sad for your loss.

Scott is as guilty as guilty can be. But he wont man up b/c he’s not a man, he’s a child.

Be serious. How the hell else did he know David was shot, before even the medical examiner did?
Comment by barb — May 27, 2011 @ 3:50 pm
There are too many coincidences in Scott’s story to be true. Especially being attacked twice. And then there’s the little problem with no shell casings found anywhere. I think Scott’s big mistake is mentioning the use of his gun and I think his father helped him with the burning of the Porsche. This sounds a lot like a Natalie Holliday story. There is a special place in hell waiting for the evil Scott Davis.

@Lori..You people need to go and read” innocent ignored” section. That woman(Megan) had been going out on Scott several times. She enjoyed toying with his mind. She’s crazy! You will hear more about her in the future..it’s not over.
Comment by Susie — June 6, 2011 @ 11:10 pm
@Barb..Megan told him.Still can’t figure out why was Megan at the neighbor’s house when David’s house was burning?Who told her to go there? When did she show up there?Has anyone answered that yet?
Comment by Susie — June 23, 2011 @ 2:31 pm
Megan involved herself in this case from long distance and is is pretty obvious she was interest in money. Since Scott Davis did not have the money that the Coffin Family had she made a ” financial decision ” to move on. I would not doubt for a moment that Coffins Father sent money her way for her participation.
Why would anyone flee to Australia and leave the USA if he/she was NOT AFRAID that what they did would come home to haunt them. Megan is probably worried that a person or persons exist that know something that have remained silent, and could link her to this proble, Getting Scott Davis out of her life was important is she was to start enjoying the Coffin family fortune. Fleeing the USA was the only real choice that she had.
Comment by George Douglass — July 3, 2011 @ 8:03 pm
God bless the COFFIN family. Justice was served for David & God will be the ultimate judge of Scott Davis on his day.
Comment by obcc — August 12, 2011 @ 6:39 pm
Innocent?
Are you people serious?
Scott Davis is clearly guilty, and proving that telephone calls were made at any given time is hardly the type of evidence that would get Davis a new trial.
And all of you complaining about the lack of “hard” evidence…you’re right, there’s little or none. That’s because Davis the cowardly murderer made sure it all went up in flames. Just as he did with Coffin’s body.
Question…why did Davis ask one of his close friends to lie for him about an alibi?
Davis and this site are pathetic. In fact, the only thing that’s worse is his father’s blatant case of denial.
Comment by John — September 4, 2011 @ 11:07 pm
Just read the near unintelligible posting from George Douglass (3 or 4 above).
I won’t even try to address most of the nonsense in said posting, except to say that Megan left the US for Australia because she feared that Davis, who was clearly obsessed with her (hmm…how many times did he call her that one night shortly before Coffin was murdered?), might decide to do her harm.
Furthermore, I would guess that her overwhelming fear was derived from her absolute belief in Davis’ guilt.
Comment by John — September 4, 2011 @ 11:22 pm
Okay…no more reading the postings of unbalanced people for me. I simply can’t believe some of the comments above. And I can’t believe that Rio actually tried to post a screenplay.
Rio, your message makes no sense, and your facts (for lack of a better word) are completely off. Stop watching CSI. Very few murder cases are actually solved through the exclusive use of DNA. Such forensic-heavy trials make headlines because they are sensational. That said, they are not the norm.
Like you, though, I do feel badly for both families.
Comment by John — September 4, 2011 @ 11:37 pm
I just hope Scott’s enjoying taking it up the ass every day with his new prison buddies. He deserves no less. And his old man is a sleazy fucker too.
Comment by Tom Mulroney — September 19, 2011 @ 12:18 am
This is truly the biggest hypocrisy I have ever seen. This IDIOTS father is involved in the criminal justice system in Atlanta and somehow cannot see that his son is a MURDERER !!! Must NOT be very good at his job either.
Why do we the Taxpaying American public have to pay to feed and house GARBAGE like this.
He should die in the same manner as his victim.. Shoot him , set him on fire, stand back and enjoy.
That is what he did to his victim. What The Fuck !!!!!!!!!!
Comment by DeadMeat — October 20, 2011 @ 6:44 pm
Wow! I just watched this on 48 Hrs and cannot believe that Scott Davis is in jail. Megan is a lying, manipulative, gold-digging whore. Flat out. She still cries for a man who didn’t want her and was dating other women… her husband should feel so disrespected. And her poor kids… all they have to do is Google her name and find out what a slut their mom is. She acts like David was the love of her life, after a few short months. How pathetic is she? It’s obvious that David was a party guy, coking it up and sleeping with anything with tits. I’m sure he had lots of enemies and/or cocaine buddies who probably had motive. I think maybe he blew Megan off when she got all psycho clingy on him and she had him killed or may have done it herself. She sure has some shifty eyes. What happened to Scott Davis is a travesty and he needs to be set free. Megan should be looked at as a real suspect.
Comment by Sandy C — October 20, 2011 @ 9:05 pm
Scott Davis is nothing but a killer, I CANNOT believe it took 10 years to convict that piece of shit.

RE: Susie and George Douglass
I can’t agree with anymore with both of you. While I realize that there are many issues and evidence that we the public are not privy to in a trial of this magnitude, however I am beyond disappointed in 48hrs. IMMEDIATELY my initial suspicion was toward “MEEEEEEEEgan” (please, your name is Megan. Plain Jane, boring, average, white trash Megan). Why on earth did 48hrs bother to run a story with out ANY investigation of their own?
To those of you who can’t see the point in the phone records: I would explain how a phone call describing details of a murder being made PRIOR to the body even being discovered, let alone before the fire was even extinguished MAY(just possibly, of course) incriminate the person making the call – BUT, clearly I would be wasting my time, as you too dense to even worry your little heads about big people things like false imprisonment and legal tragedies like conviction when there is so much reasonable doubt it is unreasonable.
Seriously. I have to assume that the prosecution cleverly had Megan’s character stricken, otherwise I cannot understand why the defense didn’t tear her to shreds. Again, where was the reporting 48Hours? I am going to write to them and ask when the follow up is – The one outlining the VERY plausible guilt of Megan. Questions to answers like, who paid for Megan to move to Australia – and fly back for the trial? Why on earth is Mr. Coffin not at all concerned with the her background anymore (he did say he WAS skeptical of her and her intentions) why the sudden change of heart? If I were the parent of a murder victim in a case like this I would not be happy that the prosecution seemed to have investigated NO ONE other than Scott Davis. Even the prosecution admits there had to be someone else involved (the burning of the Porsche?) – so why on earth aren’t they launching a manhunt for the accomplice?
I could go on and on… but I would like to know about the status of a re-trial, petitions to the Governor, etc.
Comment by Courtney — February 1, 2012 @ 1:02 am
What blew the defence in my mind was the fathers obvious lying come on, jail i imagine is a terrible place but dont do the crime bla bla bla. Oh and you could make the reward 50 million you’ll never have to pay up anyway cause they got the guy. Theguy he killed did not deserve whathappend to him. Own up little man. It’s OVER, just wasteing other peoples time now, .
